Turtle Wing Foundation is to offer an unique opportunity for Social Skills Training. This will be a monthly outing that will provide a chance for children 10-15 years of age with social skills needs to spend a Saturday or Sunday participating in fun activities, working on social skills, and establishing and maintaining friendships. Renee Absher, Board Certified Behavior Analyst with Hatch, will provide a lesson and be providing coaching during the outings.
The social skills coaching will be underwritten by Turtle Wing and participants' families will be asked to contribute $10 per outing and (when necessary) for activity expenses. Parents are asked to provide their own transportaion.
Participants with social skills, communication, sensory, and behavioral needs who can function in a group of up to 12 children are encouraged to attend. At times participants will be encouraged to invite a friend to help provide balance to the interactions. This program is partially underwritten by a grant from the Second Chance Emporium.
"Before my son started the Hatch Ahead program, he was hardly speaking at all. Since starting the program in September, his speech has vastly improved, and he is now saying full words and even sentences. The staff at Hatch are wonderful and kind and truly care about the well being of the children they serve. I would especially like to thank Turtle Wing Foundation for the financial assistance that gives my child the opportunity to attend this specialized program."
"Hatch is a blessing! My son is severely dyslexic and has other learning problems associated with his short term memory and visualization. He was eight years old and I was still struggling with his letters and sounds and not able to read at all. I am a homeschool mom, and hatch gave me the tools to help him too! I am so very glad I found hatch!"
